On January 19 2023, The Jeremy Vine Show broadcast an interview with Mike Parry on the subject of electric vehicles (EVs) that has been widely shared on social media. During the interview a number of claims were made about EVs that ranges from them being too heavy for multi-storey car parks, to children being exploited to mine for battery components.

EV experts electrifying.com decided to fact check some of the claims made, including:

'Politicians invented the electric car'
'Children in Africa have to go into mines to mine cobalt for batteries'
'An electric car oil twice the weight of an ordinary car so they are being banned from car parks'
'EVs shred tyres much more quickly and spray fibres into the air all the time'
'If all the cars run on electric they would suck all the electricity out of the national grid'
'You can't charge them and then 120 miles it's all gone'
