Powering Your Depot: What You Need to Know About the New £1m Government EV Charging Grant

With the Government’s new Depot Charging Scheme now live, there's never been a better time to electrify your fleet. But for many businesses, the challenge isn't just applying for the grant – it’s knowing where to start, who to trust, and how to get everything installed in time.

What’s the Grant Worth?

If your organisation runs vans, HGVs or coaches and owns or leases a depot site, you could get:

• 75% of your infrastructure costs covered, up to £1 million
• Funding for any number of sites (in one application)
• Support for any type or speed of charger, including installation, materials, and civil works

But applications close 28 November 2025, and all installation must be finished by 31 March 2026. That doesn’t leave much time.

Who Can Apply?

This is for public or private fleets, local authorities, and non-profits. You’ll need:

• At least one battery electric van, HGV or coach (owned, leased or on order)
• Consent from your landlord (or own the site)
• Enough grid capacity, or a plan to upgrade
• Evidence of future vehicle uptake and site readiness
